Hearty and Healthy Oatmeal Pancakes
These are my go-to hearty and healthy oatmeal pancakes! They are thick and delicious and full of whole grains! These pancakes are super filling so I love to mix them up for a big Saturday brunch for the family!
I like Saturday brunch because it means I only have to cook twice in a day. It’s a win-win for everyone, really.
I’m pretty fond of doing a double batch of these healthy oatmeal pancakes so my ravenous horde of children can eat them for easy breakfasts the rest of the week.
But let’s be real they don’t last very long! We’ve got a tribe of pancake-lovers around our house!Â

Are Oatmeal Pancakes good for you?
I like this oatmeal pancake recipe because it is full of real food! The heart-healthy oats have added fiber and protein which have the added bonus of helping keep you full longer!
These are definitely better for you pancakes, but I’m a fan of eating for your healthy living goals, which vary from person to person.
While I may not pound them as voraciously and frequently as my kiddos I’m happy to have a healthy pancake option for my weekend brunch!
What kind of oatmeal can you use for these pancakes?
You can use quick oats or rolled or old fashioned oats. The quick oats are my preference for a lighter pancake, but either is good! Don’t use Irish oats or steel cut oats. It won’t work, friend.

To make these healthy oatmeal pancakes you may need…
- An electric griddle makes whipping up a big family-size batch of pancakes a breeze!
- This classic checked apron is perfect for keeping splatters at bay!
- This is perhaps the most interesting little maple syrup pitcher I’ve ever seen! I’m not sure if I love it or am weirded out by it, but I’m leaning toward it being super cute and fun! I like to use a little pitcher so I can warm up my syrup before adding it to my pancakes.
These are awesome pancakes and fill you up so well thanks to the hearty oatmeal!
You can also use this recipe to make your own healthy pancake mix! The full directions are in the linked post, but basically you combine the dry ingredients and then when it is time to make pancakes you just measure out some mix added the wet ingredients and it’s ready for an amazing breakfast!
I’ve also made the mix, tied it up in some cute bags and given it, the recipe and homemade blueberry syrup or local maple syrup out as Christmas gifts to friends. Pancakes make great presents!
