Hey guys! Hope you had a great weekend. Ours was…well pretty much like every other day. Sadly Miss Layla has had the sniffles which has made for some short nights, but I think she is over the worst of it. Having a baby is good for my prayer life…even if half my prayers are sleep deprived derivatives of “God, please let her sleep.”
But she IS so cute! It’s hard to believe it has almost been a month since she was born. Crazy! She looks so different now from when she was a newborn. Sniff, sniff…
Anyways…since we are starting to get into a routine (ie coming out of survival mode), I am starting to think a bit more about getting back in the swing of healthy living. I have not been cleared for exercise yet. My midwife said I could walk and “do things sitting down” which is pretty limited, but challenge accepted.
So here are my little healthy living goals for this week:
- Engage in light activity at least three times this week.
I’m thinking walking with Layla in the stroller or Ergo carrier (which we both love by the way!) or some low key yoga. I kind of want to say five days this week, but I’d rather set the bar low—no reason to rush things. It just feels nice for my emotional well being to move a bit, plus this week we are supposed to have temps in the mid 40s so it’d be nice to get Layla out in the sun a little (albeit bundled up)!
- Eat 5 fruits or vegetables a day.
This should also be a “easy” goal, but sometimes it’s the little things that add up. I definitely don’t want to limit my eating with breastfeeding and I got no time for calorie counting or any of that jazz. It’s enough now to get in those good nutrients starting with fruits and veggies. Thankfully, I have actually started to crave fresh salads and other healthy good things again after the carb-loading session that was my third trimester.
- Spend 15 minutes of me-time each day.
Yes, the house needs cleaned, laundry needs done, groceries need bought, and I swear I’m wearing out Google with my baby questions, BUT I need to make some time to just slow down and chill a little when little miss is napping. A cup of coffee…painting my toenails…online shopping browsing for spring clothes…these things need to happen, even if just for a bit.
So that’s it for me! Three little goals to ease back into. Check out some other healthy living goals at Run to the Finish’s #BestFoot linkup today!
P.S. For you “blends” out there I have been a pretty neglectful blog commenter, but thanks to 3:00am feedings and the Bloglovin app, I AM still enjoying reading your recipes, family posts, race updates and more, I’m just not stringing together coherent comments at that time of the night.
P.P.S. Happy St. Patrick’s Day!! Wear green and create good luck today!
