Sometimes when creating a recipe the genius just strikes (like when I made the Chicken Garlic Pesto Pizza). And sometimes you just do something without thinking and it ends up being really, really good. This 3 Grain Breakfast cereal is the latter.
I ended up just adding a few extra things to my boring bowl of oats and the end result was surprisingly fantastic.
3 Grain Breakfast Cereal
- 1/3 cup rolled oats
- 1/3 cup water
- 1/3 cup milk of choice
- 1/3 cup cooked quinoa
- 2 Tablespoon flaxseed
- dash of salt
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon brown sugar
1/2 cup fresh berries
1 Tablespoon nut butter and 1 banana
Sprinkle of mini chocolate chips
Mix oats, water, and milk together in a small pan over medium heat. Add in cooked quinoa and remaining ingredients. Stir. Continue cooking and intermittently stirring until cereal thickens. Serve with your choice of toppings for a delicious and healthy breakfast.
This cereal packs a wallop of heart healthy grains, including high-protein quinoa (this contains 8 grams!) and omega-3 and fiber’s love-child flaxseed.
I’m not sure about you but there’s something about plain quinoa’s texture that I just don’t dig, so mixing some in with my oats is perfect for me. I like to make a good size batch early in the week and store the leftovers in the fridge to add to things.

My favorite breakfast food is Belgium waffles covered in strawberries, pecans, pure maple syrup and whip cream! The breakfast I eat most often is either Kashi GoLean or oatmeal—I still like to top both with berries and nuts though!
