Review of Aldi’s Gluten Free Products

There are so many awesome Aldi Gluten Free products! A few weeks ago I decided to go gluten and dairy free to see if it helped with my eczema. It didn’t help, so I’m back to eating gluten (and limited dairy–we’ve never really been friends), but I did discover some great gluten free products along the way that I wanted to share with you!

You guys know that I’m a big Aldi fan. I wrote about how I shop for healthy food at Aldi before, but I really wanted to complete a review of Aldi’s gluten free products. I love that Aldi is meeting a need for gluten free items, AND their less expense than almost anywhere else!

(I’m not affiliated or sponsored by Aldi in any way–I just really love the store!)

Aldi Gluten Free Products I Love!

Review of Aldi's Gluten Free Products

The two products I’m reviewing today are Aldi’s liveGfree brand Pizza Crust Mix and Baking Mix. Both were $2.99 for a mix.

Aldi Gluten Free Pizza Crust Mix

I’ve tried other gluten free pizza crusts–one at home mix and 3+ pizza’s from restaurant and this baking mix is definitely in the top tier! The crust is thicker like regular pizza dough crust, which I love! I hate when the crust is flat and basically just a grease collector. Yuck! I also liked the thorough instructions because they really explained working with gluten free ingredients. The other mix I used I remember feeling frustrated by the spreading of the crust but the box’s tip to keep wetting your hands as you spread the crust really did the trick! I would definitely recommend this crust! Each mix makes two 12 inch pizzas. I made one big one instead.

Aldi Gluten Free Baking Mix

I love that this baking mix is good for biscuits, pancakes, and waffles! You could probably get creative and use it to create other recipes too! I decided to make pancakes with it since pancakes are basically my favorite thing in the universe. They were very simple to make and fluffed right up like “real” pancakes. I added blueberries to them and ate them with peanut butter and real maple syrup. *heaven*

Overall Thoughts on Aldi’s Live Gfree Products

Overall I thought that both products were a great value and were incredibly tasty! I’d say the pancakes were just as good as regular pancakes and the pizza was not quite as good as regular homemade pizza crust, BUT definitely a lot better than 3 of the 4 restaurant gluten-free pizza crusts I have and comparable to the more expensive Glutino brand crust I have had before.

I’m stoked that Aldi is offering more gluten free options, along with their other healthy choices. I love that Aldi “gets” shopping on a budget doesn’t mean you sacrifice healthy options and I’m excited to continue shopping there as they roll out even more awesome food at awesome prices!

What are your go-to gluten-free brands? I also really love Kind bars, Chex cereal, and GFbars.

What is your favorite thing to shop for at Aldi? I just love checking out at Aldi–saving money makes me giddy!

Should Aldi officially add me to their payroll as “dedicated fangirl”? 😉

  1. I just bought these from Aldi’s to try. Glad to hear they are good. Gluten free mixes from the grocery store are so expensive, and Aldi’s were so reasonably priced. M

  2. Love the brownie gluteen free mix! You need to try it for more than a few weeks to see if it helps. Maybe try it again.

    1. I’m waiting to try that one! I may try again, things actually got worse so it was getting hard to stick with it when my whole motivation for starting was to improve that condition. 😛

  3. Aldi’s GF Brownies are also amazing!! I baked them in mini muffin tins for a party……….lots of chewy crusty edges that way.

  4. I’m experimenting with gluten-free products as a way to deal with eczema. I didn’t see the baking mix when shopping at Alid’s but I’ll ask an employee the next time I’m there. The gluten-free whole grain bread is very good with a slight rye taste (no rye in the bread itself). It is a very good substitute for standard bread.
    Thank you for this post.

    1. Hi Elizabeth! This post is 2 1/2 years old, so they may not be carrying the exact same thing anymore and I know that each Aldi doesn’t always carry the same thing so checking with a manager is a great idea! They do have great gluten-free products–although I’m not gluten-free anymore!

  5. The chocolate baking mux is great too! Made brownies using their recipe on the box and they were delicious!
