The holidays are the perfect time to introduce more and new salads into your diet. They will give you a healthy dose of fiber, fill you up with greens, and the winter flavors are hard to beat! So here are four ways to eat more salad during the holidays and then twelve awesome winter salad recipes to get your appetite enticed and creative juices flowing!
4 Ways to Eat More Salad During the Holidays
1. Consider eating a small salad before heading to a holiday party or get-together. You won’t arrive ready to eat all the pie and you’ll already have a serving of vegetables eaten. Win-win.
2. Eat a salad everyday for lunch. I think a soup and salad is the perfect winter lunch. For on-the-go salads you can prep in a mason jar (dressing on bottom, then layer up protein, toppings, and lettuce). Keep yourself from getting bored by trying different salad recipes (keep going for those!)
3. Add already prepped protein to your salad for a quick, no-cook meal. Either you can prep some extra chicken, taco meat, or steak on the weekend or you can buy it pre-cooked, but adding the protein makes an easy weeknight dinner when you are pressed for time.
4. Eat a fruit salad for dessert. Not every day during the holidays is a day to eat a cookie. Curb your sweet tooth with a delicious fruit salad for dessert!
