Growing up we had many Christmas traditions….we sang carols, did an Advent wreath, read Christmas stories, read THE Christmas stories and baked cookies. Oh, we baked cookies. In the heyday my mom made as many as different kinds of cookies, candies, bars, and treats: divinity, peanut butter blossoms, mint chocolate cookies, walnut treasures, sugar cookies, mexican wedding cakes, divinity, m&m cookies, pretzel dots, and other amazing things!
The first year I was married I, of course, wanted to make all the treats that were my Christmas traditions. I decided to “pair down” to 4 cookie types and so I went to work baking. What I kind of forgot was how many cookies each batch made! Every surface of our apartment was covered in cookies!! Nate came home to a cookie explosion! I gave cookies away that year to all my neighbors….even the ones I didn’t know.
This year I thought I wasn’t going to make any cookies, but…I am. I just can’t get away from it. It doesn’t help that there are sooo many mouth watering treats dotting the internet. I used Foodie.com to make a collection of the most inspiring ones…ones that may tempt me to break out of my traditional four…cookies and bars that look as good as they taste.
