I had a great birthday on Monday! It was a pretty low key day just hanging out with Layla and Nate. On Tuesday night Nate and I went out for dinner for my birthday at a new-to-us Italian restaurant called Comensolis. The food was delicious, I had a Chicken Tuscan lasagna, but the service was “meh” so I don’t know if we will be back. It’s always fun to try new places though! Afterwards we went to Target (duh!) and I picked up a sweater and in the one trip managed to misplace both by phone and wallet. The pregnancy brain is real over here!
The next couple days were pretty low key. On Christmas Eve I finished all the present wrapping and we went to Christmas Eve service at our church. The candlelight service was lovely and Nate did a great job singing and playing the guitar. Afterwards we came home and enjoyed our typical Christmas feast: steak, mashed potatoes, green beans, rolls, and cheesecake! Then we watched Charlie Brown Christmas and It’s a Wonderful Life. It was the first Christmas Eve we didn’t spend at my Grandpa’s (he passed away this spring) so it was a little weird and sad not being with my extended family, but I think we made some nice traditions on our own.
On Christmas morning we got up (not too early!), read the Christmas story, and opened presents!
Our big gift to Layla this year was an American Girl Bitty Baby and the baby doll cradle that I had as a little girl. She also got a lot of fun bath toys and books! Nate and I kept things small on the gift giving front since we bought a van in November. I’m super excited though about my dvd of one of my favorite movies, The Sound of Music and a nice set of measuring cups and spoons!
After a delicious brunch and some time playing with new toys, we got ready and went down to Indiana to spend the afternoon and the 26th with my family. Layla and the new baby were showered with gifts! Layla loved being the center of attention too!
We had a delicious Christmas dinner, hung out, started a puzzle, and played cards. On the 26th we had a relaxing day at my folks, so nice to just enjoy the company and not really have an agenda. In the afternoon, my brother David and I went out to do a little shopping! I got some maternity leggings I had been eyeing at Target and some black boots from DSW. After dinner we drove home and enjoyed an at-home Sunday. Poor Nate has been struggling most of the week with back pain and it got really bad the last couple days. Hopefully a Dr.’s appointment today will get us started down the right path for him feeling better.
And now that Christmas is over I am officially in a cleaning-organizing-working out-goal setting mood! Anyone else? Ready to get stuff done?! Boom! I have The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up and two prenatal workout dvds (<<affiliate links) on their way to my house via Amazon!
