A few weeks before Barrett was born my husband and I went out to dinner at a fancy-schmancy restaurant here in Kalamazoo. The restaurant had a drink special called Basil Ginger Lemonade and I decided to try it out. Oh. My. Word. I could have drunk 20 cups of that lemonade! Since that time I’ve wanted to recreate it, but in a simple fashion and one that doesn’t cost $5 a glass.
Meet my incredibly easy Basil Ginger Lemonade.
This lemonade is perfect for front porch sitting, backyard barbecues, and summer in general. It’s refreshing and unique thanks to the mix of basil and ginger. I promise, you will want to keep sipping glass after glass!
It is SO EASY to make too thanks to Simply Lemonade®! Because who wants to spend the summer in the kitchen? Squeezing a bunch of lemons is not my idea of fun, and I hate to be stressed when I have people over so easy-easy-easy is my way. Simply Lemonade is a refreshing, natural drink that contains just a few simple ingredients: pure, filtered water, lemon juice, cane sugar, and natural flavors.
- ⅓ cup fresh ginger sliced into small pieces
- ½ cup fresh basil chopped and unpacked
- 2 cups boiling water
- 4 cups Simply Lemonade
- Pour boiling water over ginger and basil slices. Let steep for 30 minutes. Strain off ginger and basil leaves. Combine ginger/basil concentrate with lemonade. Refrigerate. Serve with a garnish of fresh basil.
I picked up Simply Lemonade at Sam’s Club! (Where I recently became a member! Did you know you can order online and they have your products ready for you at the door? #everymomsdream) The two pack of Simply Lemonade is on sale for $3.98 for the rest of the summer! I found it on the end of the refrigerated section near the juices. They also have Raspberry Lemonade for if you want to mix things up!
Basil Ginger Lemonade is a delight and an easy drink to whip up for the 4th of July holiday weekend! I will be sipping my lemonade and enjoying my family and freedom-hope you do the same!
