Hey friends! Pull up a chair and a mug of your favorite beverage (I’m drinking half-caf coffee today) and let’s chat about life!
If we were having coffee today I’d tell you that yesterday I went shopping! By myself. For things that weren’t groceries. It was so fun! Nate was off work, so I took the whole afternoon and lazily strolled through some of my favorite stores looking for presents for friends and a few for myself!I mostly bought wedding/shower/bachelorette gifts, but there were also a few household and kid stuff thrown in there! I finally got the super-cute sandals I’ve been eyeing for months for my sister’s wedding! (Please excuse my un-manicured toes!)
If we were having coffee I would tell you that I’ve been trying to do two things this week to make my life easier. 1. Get up earlier in the morning. Not too much earlier because that’s just not realistic. But early enough that I can start the coffee and maybe drink some before the kiddos are up. 2. Do the dishes and run the dishwasher at night. By clearing out the sink and wiping all the counters in the evening I can truly relax without feeling guilty. This is a habit I fall in and out of, but it definitely makes life better. Some people are adamant about making their bed every day, but this-this is my thing. (I wrote about my morning and evening routines last year, and that’s still the ideal and things go much smoother when I operate this way, but life happens as well.)
If we were having coffee I would tell you how obsessed I am with podcasts right now. I like to pair them with things I dread doing like dishes and folding laundry (and I had SO much laundry to fold this week!). My two favorites right now are That Sounds Fun with Annie F. Downs (she’s the BEST!!) and Shailey and Katie. Both are super fun! Annie’s is more spiritual and I love the deep and funny conversations she has with her guests. Shailey and Katie is a smattering of mom life, entrepreneurship, and design–all things I love! Definitely makes laundry day a better day!
If we were having coffee I would tell you it FINALLY feels like spring in Michigan and it makes me so happy. We’ve been going for lots of walks and I love seeing the world in bloom and bursting with color. Also, it is bursting with pollen, but I have managed to somehow escape that curse (thanks mom!) so I have nothing but love, sweet love for spring.
Finally, if we were having coffee today I would probably blather on about how fast time goes, how quickly my kids are growing, and how amazed I am that my baby sister is getting married in two weeks!! And next week we find out our baby’s gender! Yay! Spring brings lots of good things, doesn’t it?
