Welcome to Kate Moving Forward! I’m thrilled you are here! First off, I want you to know I’m not perfect. I don’t have 6 pack abs. I like Diet Dr. Pepper and Skittles. I also like running and drinking green smoothies. This is the story of an imperfectly healthy life.
My Healthy Living Story
A few years ago I felt unmotivated, overwhelmed, stuck, and oh yeah, my “fat jeans” were getting tight! I read a lot of healthy blogs and it seemed like I was doing the “right” things, but I wasn’t. I was filling my body with processed food, overeating, and underestimating how much help my occasional jog was doing. So I decided to get serious about losing weight. And I did. Since then I have ran 2 half marathons, lost 20 pounds, moved 3 times, trained for a full marathon (that was abandoned due to injury), cooked countless healthy meals, created recipes, been pregnant, struggled with breastfeeding, lost weight again and had two beautiful babies.
And my journey is not over yet! I’m currently rebuilding my fitness andI’m trying hard to overcome my “diet” mentality and implement the healthy food choices I KNOW are best for me. It hasn’t been as simple as I thought it would be, but I am still moving forward!
My favorite way to work out is strength training. I like to lift heavy stuff and I also LOVE quick workouts that fit into my busy mom life! You’ll also find me running a lot, doing some yoga, and completing some HIIT workouts.

In 2009 I married my summer crush. Nate is my best friend and is kind, generous, spontaneous, and FUN! Living life with him is my favorite adventure. In February of 2014 our daughter Layla was born. She is the sweetest little thing and we are so overwhelmed at God’s goodness in giving her to us. Currently I am expecting a boy due in April of 2016! Our life is about to change all over again! I love Jesus!! And He loves me! That’s basically it…my faith is about a relationship with God, not a bunch of rules or religious motions.
